Q2.
As it is the first production, what have you focused
on?
I have focused not on that it is the first
production but more on that they are POPERA, a
new genre and the audience who are going to come
to see our shows. POPERA has been made from the
mixture of pop and classic, very unfamiliar but
I would like to express free style of pop music
within the boundary of classic music. I am sure
POPERA music must sound easier and user-friendly
to many people who have thought classic music
is very difficult to listen to. I have wanted
to write the music which is very touching, easy
and beautiful. And the main purpose of POPERA
is not to interrupt the whole story line due to
the difficulty of understanding the music.
Q3. Is there anything that you wish for
POPERA, which will be performed on Feb 23 and
24?
First of all, I hope many people can come
and enjoy our shows. And I would love the audience
to realize what our mission is and its significant
meaning is after watching our performances. Lastly,
I would like to say thousand of thanks to all
staff, conductor and orchestra members.
Q4. From when did you start composing
music and have you been affected by anybody?
I have started composing classic music
since I was 12. I have written various kinds of
music in the style of each era but I like modern
music more. And I have been largely affected by
my professor, Dr. Robert Cuckson while I was studying
at Mannes College of Music. I learned a lot from
him. It was his suggestion that I go on more studying
on Film Scoring and Multimedia at New York University.
Q5. Could you tell me if there is anybody
that you would like to send special thanks?
As mentioned above, I would like to thank
Dr. Cuckson and Dr. Jerica Oblak heartedly. They
helped me a lot to think and see big and encouraged
me when I was suffering from creating a new genre,
POPERA
Q6. What is your future plan as a composer?
I would like to compose more music that
many people can enjoy more easily such as film
music, musicals and poperas.
